Foot / Ankle Care Post-OP

Open Reduction Internal Fixation: Foot or Ankle

• Keep dressing on until post-op visit
• Ice and elevate frequently for pain and swelling
• Take your pain medication as prescribed
• Resume your regular home medications unless instructed otherwise
• Resume your regular diet
• Use a walker or crutches for ambulation
• Do not bear weight on operated leg
• Call for an appointment to be 10-14 days from the day of surgery;

  X-rays will need to be done just prior to this appointment and hand carried with you. The office will help facilitate this when your appointment is made

• Any problems call the office or go to the nearest emergency room
