Hand / Wrist Care Post-OP

Open or Closed Reduction: Hand or Wrist

• Keep dressing on until post-op visit
• If you were placed in a cast or splint, keep clean and dry (see Cast Care)
• Ice and elevate frequently for pain and swelling
• Take your pain medication as prescribed
• Resume your regular home medications unless instructed otherwise
• Resume your regular diet
• Call for an appointment to be 7-10 days from the day of surgery;

  X-rays will need to be done just prior to this appointment and hand carried with you. The office will help facilitate this when your appointment is made

• Any problems call the office or go to the nearest emergency room
